In the late 20’s Henry Ford finally accepted that this beloved Model T, despite years of steady improvements, restylings and upgrades, no longer matched up with its competitors. The next model was so substantially different that Henry went back to the beginning for its model designation, Model A. It still had a four-cylinder engine but now had a conventional 3-speed sliding gear transmission. The body was redesigned to be more modern. Ford still offered many body styles but today one of the most appreciated by collectors is the Roadster. The body had a sportier design that incorporated a low profile windscreen and tall belt line. Additional seating would be provided by the rumble seat that also effectively eliminated the truck. The combination made for a handsome package and brisk sales proved its popularity. This handsome 1931 Model A Roadster is painted bright blue with a teal highlight and beige pinstripe. The contrasting yellow wire wheels and a beautifully finished interior make for a very attractive package. Practical and sporty, it has an abundance of special features. These include: Folding windshield, single windshield wiper, twin down lights, etched wind wings, mirror mounted clock, accessory trunk, running board step protectors, side mount spare tire chrome trim and Auto-Lite flow through heater. In addition a Mitchell gear splitter overdrive and a 6 volt alternator added reliability and driving comfort to this milestone car.
