This magnificent 1960 Corvette convertible is one of the rarest examples built. A fuelie car, the CS-suffix 283/290 HP V-8 is equipped with the Rochester fuel-injection unit (Serial No. 1006, Part No. 7017320), a 4-speed manual transmission, Posi-traction rear end, 7 finned valve covers and a 7,000 RPM tachometer driven by the correct #110914 distributor. It also has the high lift, solid lifter camshaft, making this machine an even more unique discovery. Following a comprehensive, rotisserie restoration, the Corvette has only traveled about 70 miles. It is presented in Roman Red with Ermine White coves, a white soft top and red interior. Options include the extremely rare POWER TOP, power windows, heater, defroster, clock, Wonderbar radio, Red removable Hard Top and full sport wheel covers on color-matched steel wheels. The 1960 model year would be the last time the tail lights would be spear shaped; four circles replaced them in 1961. A variety of upgrades were incorporated in the Corvettes equipped with fuel-injected engines. As a result of the additional power, all of these cars required manual transmissions. The re-engineered 283 engine was equipped with solid lifters. a Duntov camshaft and a higher compression ratio of 11.0:1.This combination produced a mighty 290 horse power. Engineers also opted for stiffer anti-sway bars front and rear, as well as additional wheel travel to improve ride comfort. Interestingly, with all this performance engineering going on, Corvette won its class at Le Mans in 1960, the first time a Corvette raced on that legendary circuit. This is a superb example of a collectible and exceedingly rare Corvette. This is one very special car.
