By Jakob Hansen
This exquisite 1960 Alfa Romeo Giulietta Sprint is a prime example of Italian automotive excellence.
With a rich history and meticulous refurbishment, this Alfa stands up as an excellent example of a timeless design.
Provenance and Restoration
Originally owned in California, this Giulietta Sprint has a storied past, remaining in the care of its original owner until the late 1980s. Acquired by its current owner in 2014, the car underwent a comprehensive refurbishment, ensuring its pristine condition and enhancing its performance capabilities.
The restoration was performed with preservation in mind, keeping as much of the original componentry as possible. Updates included reupholstering seats and select interior components, fitting new stainless steel bumpers, and meticulously rebuilding both the engine and transmission.
Attention was then extended to the braking system and the replacement of worn rubber components, refreshing the driving quality. While the exterior received a fresh coat of paint, the interior retains much of its original charm, with the door cards, dash, gauges, and steering wheel remaining untouched.
Engine
Powered by a rebuilt 1.3-liter inline-four engine and paired with a five-speed manual transmission, the replacement 1.3-liter inline-four was sourced from a 1961 Giulietta Sprint Veloce, making it a 101 interim Sprint that has since been upgraded to Veloce specifications. Engine number AR0010602727
The engine was rebuilt in 2014, while the twin Weber carburetors were recently overhauled.
Interior
The interior boasts a two-spoke steering wheel adorned with a polished horn ring and a distinctive gold-script Giulietta Sprint horn button. Veglia instrumentation, including a central tachometer, a 140-mph speedometer, and a combination gauge, adds to the vintage charm of the cabin.
With a five-digit odometer displaying 65k miles, of which approximately 600 were accrued by the current owner, this Giulietta Sprint retains its classic allure while offering a glimpse into its well-maintained history.
